The youth are a powerful force in rejuvenating the Chinese nation, and they should make solid contributions to the cause, Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan said on Aug 17.

Sun made the remarks while sending congratulations on the opening of the plenary session of the 13th committee of the All-China Youth Federation and the 27th congress of the All-China Students’ Federation, on behalf of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

Youth federations and student federations are groups facing the young generation under the leadership of the Party, she noted, praising young people, including young students, for taking concrete actions to shoulder their responsibilities while equipping themselves with academic knowledge over the years.

In the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic, especially, many of them took part in community prevention and control, medical treatment, and production of anti-virus materials on the front lines, and many donated money, essentials and blood, among other voluntary services, she said.

Sun expressed hope that the youth of today could set firm ideals and beliefs and build up their skills to contribute to realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation and meanwhile achieve their own dreams.

They also should nurture innovation and creativity and develop noble character, she added.
