HANGZHOU — China and Laos have pledged to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further promote China-Laos relations and better benefit the two countries and peoples.
The pledge was made during a video meeting between Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith on Dec 3 in Anji, East China's Zhejiang province.
Wang said the top leaders of the two countries jointly witnessed the opening of the China-Laos Railway via video link today, and that the strategic communication between the leaders has injected strong impetus into the construction of a China-Laos community with a shared future.
Wang said the two sides should make joint efforts to develop their strategic mutual trust to a new height, take the Belt and Road Initiative to a new level, and make new achievements in cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Saleumxay extended his warm congratulations to the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee on its great achievements, and said Laos is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas and promote the construction of a Laos-China community with a shared future to achieve more fruitful results.
The two sides exchanged in-depth views on regional cooperation, agreed to give full play to the China-Laos Railway in regional interconnection, agreed to strengthen cooperation on the Global Development Initiative, and exchanged views on Myanmar and other issues.
