Premier Li Keqiang met with Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Beijing on Dec 6.

Premier Li said he appreciated Kazakhstan’s friendly reception when he visited the country earlier in November. Due to the strengthened political mutual trust, there has been big progress in cooperation and capacity cooperation has also become a new dynamic in bilateral ties.

The Premier added that China is willing to boost the connection of the country’s Belt and Road initiative and Kazakhstan’s New Silk Road in an effort to pursue a joint development, while hoping the two countries could strengthen legislative cooperation to lay a solid legal foundation for future progress.

Speaking of China’s current economic situation, Premier Li said the economy has maintained steady growth and achieved progress in transformation and upgrading.

Despite difficulties, China is confident in reaching this year’s economic and social target, which will lay a solid foundation for the next year’s development, he added.

Tokayev said Kazakhstan admires China’s remarkable economic achievements and attaches great importance to the bilateral relations, hoping to keep close high-level exchanges with China and pushing ahead cooperation in such fields as development strategies, industrial capacity and connectivity.
