On June 4, Premier Li Keqiang visited residents of Yuanlong village in Yinchuan, capital of Northwest China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region, during an inspection.

These villagers resettled in Yuanlong from Shangqingshi, a village deep in the mountains in Guyuan city, under the relocation plan of the local government.

Walking into Ma Xiliang’s home, a spacious and bright brick house with access to running water, Premier Li was glad to hear that more than 700 households have gotten out of poverty with relocation, and now earn more money.

“You embrace a brighter future after moving out of the mountains,” Premier Li said, encouraging them to get rich by working hard. Six years ago, Premier Li visited Ma’s old house, which was a cave dwelling, and learned that residents had problems with the water supply, bad road conditions and very low income. He then asked related departments to accelerate anti-poverty efforts.
