Premier Li Keqiang extended his best wishes to elderly people as he visited a welfare home in Zhenlai county, Northeast China’s Jilin province, on Feb 13.

He brought them new year presents, including new coats and Chinese knots, which are used to express wishes for blessings and longevity.

The Premier told them that they have made contributions to society, so society should take care of them when they get old. “Respect for old people is a long tradition in China,” he said.
