Premier Li Keqiang made an inspection to the remote medical consultation center of Huashan Hospital in Shanghai on April 11.
The center provides opportunities for patients living in remote regions to receive proper online treatment and diagnosis by specialists in Shanghai with better credentials.
During the inspection, Premier Li was informed local medical conditions, such as poor medical imaging equipment and low internet speed, still have a negative impact on the effectiveness and accuracy of online treatment and diagnosis.
To address such concerns and further promote Internet Plus in the medical sector, the Premier urged efforts to enhance financial support for medical infrastructure building in poverty-stricken regions.
He also required enterprises in the telecommunications sector to prioritize fast internet connections in telemedicine.
