BEIJING — China’s National Meteorological Center (NMC) renewed a yellow alert on Aug 5 as a heat wave continued in most parts of the country.
On Aug 5, most areas south of the Yangtze River, as well as Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Guangdong and Xinjiang will see temperatures reach 35-36 degrees Celsius, according to the NMC.
Some areas may see temperatures hit 39 degrees Celsius.
The center advised people in affected regions to take precautions against heat stroke and fires, including avoiding outdoor activities.
China has a three-tier, color-coded warning system for heat waves, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange and yellow.
