Construction of the Lhasa-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway is well underway in Southwest China’s Tibet autonomous region, with more than ten percent already completed. The track-laying of the 435.48-kilometer section began in October 2018. There will be 34 new stations along the line, including nine major ones. The electrified railway section is designed for trains running at an average speed of 160 kilometers per hour and is expected to go into operation in 2021.
