China will launch a national survey to monitor the efficiency of government websites, a document issued by the State Council said.

The national survey, the first of its type, will be conducted from March to December, and aims to improve the efficiency and interactive content of the websites.

Problems faced by the public in trying to access some of the websites include information that has not been updated or is inaccurate and general difficulty in gaining access with many of the websites being static, the document said.

All government bodies above county level and affiliated institutions, and all ministries and commissions under the State Council and their affiliated institutions, will be covered in the survey.

All government departments should be inspected and carry out checks to make sure the state of the websites are accurately reflected, the document said.

The General Office of the State Council will also conduct checks and examine the websites, and will publish a bulletin of the result.
