The State Council issued a statement on Sept 3, asking its ministries, as well as local authorities, to improve the compiling of chronicles for areas across the country.
The first round of composing the chronicles, detailed information of each region, has been finished. The State Council asked authorities to complete the second round by 2020, when all provincial regions, cities and counties should have published their chronicles.
By 2020, local chronicles should be compiled by special organizations and a revised version should be published every year. The authorities should also attach more importance to compiling chronicles for the army, the armed police, places inhabited by ethnic groups and rural areas, and enhance the procedures for examining chronicles compiled in the past.
Also, they should formulate criteria for chronicle researchers to follow and nurture more talent in the field.
