A plan was issued by the State Council on Aug 18 urging provincial governments to enhance production safety and avoid accidents.
Provincial governments’ performance on safe production management will be evaluated by the State Council every year according to the plan.
Evaluation standards include the number of production accidents and casualties, the investment in safety production management and precautions taken for safety risks.
If a serious safety accident happened in a provincial region, the local government would fail the evaluation that year.
In addition, provincial governments were asked to improve their regulations and supervision system on production safety, according to the official document.
Provincial governments that do well in the evaluation will be officially commended by the State Council, and those that fail will be ordered to rectify the situation.
