Yuxian county, situated in North China’s Hebei province, has been officially listed as a National Famous Historical and Cultural City, according to a circular issued by the State Council on May 2.

Yuxian county boasts a well-preserved, unique ancient architectural complex with great scenic diversity and cultural and historical value.

Local authorities are required to enhance efforts in protecting cultural heritage, conduct in-depth research on historical relics, mark out historical and cultural areas and streets, improve the urban environment and renovate historical buildings.

The circular also said related authorities should ensure all construction projects blend in well with the county’s environment and landscape.
