The State Council issued a circular on July 19, stating that the adjustment of the national afforestation commission will take place.

According to the circular, the newly adjusted commission will be helmed by Vice-Premier Han Zheng with seven deputy heads. They are Ding Xuedong, deputy secretary-general of the State Council; Zhang Jianlong, member of the Leading Party Members Group of the Ministry of Natural Resources and head of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration; Qian Yiping, deputy head of the Logistic Support Department of the Central Military Commission; Zhang Yong, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission; Cheng Lihua, vice-minister of the Ministry of Finance; Ni Hong, vice-minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; and Lu Yan, vice-mayor of Beijing.

The revamped commission also includes officials from wide-ranging ministries, departments and commissions, and the steering office will be at the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, with its head Zhang Jianlong assuming the role of office director.
