Premier Li Keqiang underlined the significance of preventing risks and vital accidents in production, in a written instruction to the national teleconference on safety production on Jan 25.

He asked related departments to improve the accountability system, laws and regulations, risk prevention, and supervision system, to facilitate high-quality economic development and improve people’s livelihoods.

The Premier appreciated the hard work of the National Commission of Production Safety, as the number of accidents, especially major accidents, dropped in 2017.

The meeting urged more efforts to ensure safety production and make the public feel safer.

Arrangements for safety production at the beginning of the year and during the two sessions were also made.

Vice-Premier Ma Kai and State Councilors Guo Shengkun and Wang Yong attended the conference.
