We encourage overseas Chinese to apply for marriage registration or hold the wedding according to the laws of the country of residence;

Both the man and woman, who apply for marriage registration, shall be overseas Chinese. And only when their application meets the requirements of Chinese Marriage Law and is allowed by the law of the country of residence, and they insist on applying for marriage registration in Chinese embassy or consulate, can we sign and issue the marriage registration for them. If the law of the country of residence doesn’t recognize the marriage registration issued by the foreign embassies or consulates or the marriage application doesn’t meet the requirements of Chinese Marriage Law, Chinese embassy or consulate shall not accept it.

In addition, Chinese embassy or consulate shall not accept the application of marriage registration of overseas Chinese and foreigners (including Chinese with foreign nationalities).
