BEIJING — China and Vietnam’s ministers of public security on Oct 10 agreed to push forward cooperation on combating crime.

The pledge came out of the sixth China-Vietnam public security ministerial meeting on cooperation against crime, attended by State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam.

Zhao said he hoped that the two sides would “seriously implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, continuously deepen pragmatic cooperation in safeguarding national security, anti-terrorism, combating transnational crimes, immigration management and establishing the security cooperation mechanism for major projects.”

To Lam, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, said Vietnam was willing to further strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China in various fields such as law-enforcement and security.
