The seventh China-EU High-level Economic and Trade Dialogue was held on June 25 in Beijing. Vice-Premier Liu He and European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen had a deep discussion on promoting globalization and Sino-European cooperation.

They both objected unilateralism and trade protectionism, and vowed to maintain the multilateral trade mechanism with the World Trade Organization at the core and rules as the basis, advancing globalization to be more open, inclusive, balanced and mutually beneficial.

Consensus was also made on cooperation in the digital economy, e-commerce, the circular economy and climate change, paving the way for the 20th China-EU Summit.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership and the 20th anniversary of the China-EU Summit, the vice-premier said.

The progress of bilateral trade cooperation has brought benefits to enterprises and people of the two sides.

No matter how the international climate changes, China will always work with the EU for long-term, stable and win-win trade relations, Liu added.

Katainen said the EU is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to push forward bilateral trade and the global economy.

After the dialogue, Liu and Katainen met with journalists together.
