Joint efforts must be made to combat new types of crimes in telecommunications networks, ensuring a safe and stable political and social environment, said State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi during a teleconference on Jan 14.

Special and comprehensive actions must be carried out to combat crimes in telecommunications network and their black industry, the state councilor urged.

Local governments must practice their own responsibilities of safety rectification in key areas, he added.

Administrative departments should strengthen industry supervision, Zhao said.

He also said that it is necessary to strengthen the construction of a telecommunications network fraud prevention system, and improve the mechanism for freezing funds gained from fraud.

Awareness of anti-fraud throughout the whole society was also mentioned at the conference.
