BUDAPEST — Premier Li Keqiang and Hungarian Parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover agreed here on Nov 28 that China and Hungary will further expand people-to-people exchanges.

China is willing to work with Hungary to consolidate the two countries’ traditional friendship and expand cooperation in various fields so as to let China-Hungary ties bear more fruits that will benefit the two peoples, Premier Li said during his meeting with Kover.

For years, legislatures of China and Hungary have kept good exchanges and cooperation, playing an important role in promoting bilateral relations, said Premier Li.

The Premier said he hopes that the two countries will continue to strengthen exchanges at more levels and expand people-to-people exchanges in Chinese language education and tourism, so as to inject intellectual impetus in boosting bilateral relations and cooperation in the future.

Kover congratulated Premier Li on his successful visit to Hungary and attendance at the annual meeting of heads of government of China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries.

Noting that it is the consensus widely held by political parties of the Hungarian Parliament to develop Hungary-China ties, Kover said Hungary admires China’s development achievements and long-standing and brilliant culture.

The popularity of Chinese language among Hungarian youth demonstrates that more and more Hungarian people, the youth in particular, have recognized the importance of Hungary-China relations, Kover said, adding that it is these young people who bear the future of Hungary-China friendly cooperation.

Kover said he hopes that the two sides will further expand people-to-people exchanges in the fields of culture, education, tourism, and youth, and boost inter-party and subnational interactions so as to bring Hungary-China ties to a higher level.
