China, Estonia strengthen cooperation

Premier Li Keqiang met with Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, who is in China to attend the Summer Davos Forum in Tianjin, on Sept 19.

Premier Li congratulated Estonia on its centennial independence, adding that the sustained, healthy and stable development of China-Estonia relations is in the interest of the two peoples. President Xi Jinping met with the Estonian president on Sept 18, injecting new impetus into the development of bilateral relations.

The Premier said China is willing to expand cooperation with Estonia on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and tolerance.

Premier Li said the two sides should strengthen strategy cooperation, use Estonia’s geographical advantage, carry out cooperate in interconnection, oil and gas energy, and wood processing, and jointly create a platform conducive to corporate production and consumer spending.

He also urged increasing education and tourism cooperation, and developing more high-quality cultural exchange activities.

Kaljulaid said Estonia and China enjoy stable relations with close dialogues. Estonia hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in energy, timber, agriculture and infrastructure.

The Estonian people are interested in Chinese culture and are willing to strengthen cooperation and exchanges on culture and tourism with China, she said.
